President (Plantations) ITC Bhadrachalam Paperboards Limited,
Secunderabad. Provided leadership to the plantations team and helped
create the unique success story of clonal eucalyptus plantations for
the first time in India.
Productivity
of these clones is 3 to 4 times higher compared to normal seedlings
and record yields of 250 tonnes per ha. have been achieved by many
farmers at 5 years rotation. 3.6 million genetically improved clonal
eucalyptus are now being planted over 5400 acres by farmers every year
in Andhra Pradesh alone.
These
clones are an unique gift of everlasting value to the nation. ITC
Bhadrachalam won four prestigious awards for this pioneering clonal
technology research and large scale promotion of farm forestry
plantations. |
